Why Do Machines Need Lubrication?
High-speed machinery generates friction and heat, causing surface wear that affects precision. Industrial lubrication systems therefore play an important role in machine tools.
Components of industrial lubrication systems.
The main components of an industrial lubrication system include a lubricator (also called an oil feeder or pump) and an oil distributor (also called a distributor or manifold), together with fittings and tubing and, in some cases, monitoring switches, forming a complete lubrication system. What is a centralized lubrication system?
Applications of industrial lubrication systems.
Industrial lubrication systems are widely used on machine tools, including presses, milling machines, grinders and electrical-discharge machines, as well as knitting, textile, injection-moulding and hosiery machinery. They lubricate bearings, gears, mounted bearing units and ball screws. Vehicles and escalator chains also use lubrication systems. Lubrication is needed wherever metal surfaces move against one another with friction.
